drink to the beauty

drank it all away

another sad song for the suburbanites
another precious malady
the city lights spin around and round

stole into my mind
a tiny flicker
saw the spark and tried to put it out
but my heart went up in flames

you gave me pain and ecstasy
you gave me joy and misery
until I couldn’t see them apart

felt it in my soul
strychnine on my tongue
devastated my lungs

Just because you feel a supernatural energy in this world doesn’t mean that it bears the face that the catholics or any other entity has given it, and just because some people are wiggling like fools and falling to the floor in convulsions doesn’t mean that you should too. I don’t hate what you call god, but I despise that so many are afraid to think for themselves because religions have brainwashed them to believe that having an open mind puts you in danger of going to hell, and look at all the good it’s done for this world.
